Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak announced on Saturday that due to the plans agreed between Tehran and Moscow, the value of trade between the two countries increased by about 69 percent in the first six months of this year compared to the same period in 2015.
Novak in his talks with the Iranian delegation led by Iran's Minister of Industries, Mines, and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh and attended by Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei, said there has been growth in trade with Iran while the value of Russia's economic relations with some countries, even China, in the first six months of 2016 decreased compared to the same period last year.
The meeting between Iranian delegation and Russian minister was held on the sidelines of St Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday.
Namatzadeh, for his part, underlining the strategic nature of ties between Iran and Russia in various sectors including economy, said Tehran welcomes the development of relations in all aspects with Moscow.
Pointing to Novak’s comments, he said the increase in the value of economic relations between Iran and Russia is a great move through which various sectors can benefit from.
