Elsewhere, he addressed the situation in Syria, saying Russia counts on the US to convince Syrian opposition to hold constructive dialogue with Damascus. He added that President Assad agrees on the need to create effective leadership in Syria; "if we still want to promote the principle of democracy let’s do this by democratic means," he said.
