WARSAW, May 30 (MNA) – Witold Waszczykowski, Foreign Minister of Poland, in a Sun. presser with his Iranian counterpart Zarif in Warsaw, stressed that Iran is seen as an important economic partner to the eastern European country.

Waszczykowski made the remark in a press conference with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Sunday in the Polish capital Warsaw, adding “I am glad to see that Iran has returned to the international scene after many years of isolation.”

He went on to add, “we happily welcome Iran’s presence in the international scene following the nuclear agreement, and hope to have good relations with the country.”

He referred to an MoU for the establishment of cooperation and political consultations signed with Zarif prior to the press conference, adding “I truly hope that the MoU will turn a new page in the two countries’ relations.”

The memorandum of understanding signed between the foreign ministries of Iran and Poland is expected to provide the ground for better and more regular cooperation in various political, economic and cultural fields.

Waszczykowski further maintained that his country would never forget Iran’s great help and hospitability during the World War II in welcoming thousands of Polish refugees to take shelter in the country; “Iran is not a troublemaker, rather its policies are based on resolving issues,” he noted.

Mohammad Javad Zarif, for his part, highlighted the extensive capacities in both countries for bilateral cooperation, saying “the positive record of past cooperation between Iran and Poland have allowed their people to hold high hopes for the future.”

The Iranian top diplomat went on to add, “today, besides the plans for bilateral negotiations, I am accompanied by a high-ranking business delegation. We have the necessary ground for cooperation on economic issues as well as establishing peace and security in our surrounding world.”

Zarif also reaffirmed that the implementation of the nuclear deal and the lift of sanctions have prepared the grounds for further cooperation between the two countries.
