TEHRAN, May 03 (MNA) – Iranian FM Zarif received his Malaysian counterpart Aman in Tehran and reassured that Iran is determined to develop ties with Malaysia.

“The relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Malaysia have been historically and traditionally positive and progressive,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in his meeting with visiting Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman in Tehran on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the two officials examined the latest status of bilateral ties between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur in addition to weighing ways to boost cooperation in dealing with regional and international issues.

Referring to the huge capacity of bilateral cooperation in areas of trade and economy, Zarif voiced Tehran’s will to expand ties with Malaysia boundlessly.

“The numerous visits of high-ranking foreigners to Tehran after the Iran-Sextet deal have opened, for the Islamic Republic of Iran, many doors to opportunities of trade and business,” highlighted Iranian top diplomat.

Zarif also touched upon the huge number of tourist attractions in Iran and invited his Malaysian counterpart to work on improving tourism between the two countries.

Anifah Aman, during the meeting, for his part, hailed the growing status of bilateral cooperation between the two Muslim countries and welcomed suggestions made by Zarif as he himself highlighted areas of food industry, petrochemicals, energy, industry, and technology. 

The two officials also exchanged views on the latest developments in the region especially the mayhem in Syria and Iraq.
