TEHRAN, Apr. 18 (MNA) – The Iranian men's epee team has finished fifth in 2016 Asian Fencing Championships underway in China.

The team event of Asian Fencing Championships in epee weapon was held on Saturday while Iranian fencers comprising Taher Ashouri, Mohammad Esmaeili, Hossein Jafari and Mohammad Keyhani met rivals.

The Iranian outfit overcame Australia 45-35 in the first encounter before they subdued Uzbekistan 45-36 in the next round.

Iranian national fencers gained a 45-41 victory over Kyrgyzstan in the third meeting while conceded a defeat against South Korea.

Overall, the Iran’s epee squad finished fifth in the tournament with three wins and one loss.

Asian Fencing Championships is the fencing zonal championship organized by the Asian Fencing Confederation for the Asia-Oceania in Epee, Foil and Sabre weapons which kicked off on April 13 in Wuxi of China and come to an end today on April 18.
