TEHRAN, Apr. 13 (MNA) – CBI governor has called for expansion of banking cooperation between Iran and Kazakhstan by establishing branches of Iranian and Kazakh banks in both countries.

Speaking at a meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Akishev Daniyar Talgatovich, Governor of Central Bank of Iran Valiollah Seif voiced satisfaction towards presence of the Central Asian country’s officials in Iran emphasizing the need to reinvigorate bilateral banking ties; “we hope the session would pave the path for further bolstering of banking ties between the two sides in line with the recently-signed MoU by Iranian and Kazakh presidents.”

The Iranian official welcomed the idea of deploying a delegation of Kazakh banks to Tehran in order to share experiences as well as to discuss venues for expansion of broker relations; “fortunately, the two countries enjoy a significant amount of trade turnover which can be exploited to boost banking collaborations in addition to the fact that the time is ripe to implement the agreements reached during previous negotiations.”

Seif pointed to the signing of an MoU on banking ties asserting “the Iranian government attach great importance to development of cooperation with neighboring countries as the removal of international sanctions has provided valuable opportunities for continues collaboration as well as for taking advantage of mutual experiences.”

CBI governor also voiced eagerness for establishing branches of banks in the two sides’ territories; “we look forward to the possibility of opening branches of Iranian banks in Kazakhstan and vice versa.”

Akishev Daniyar Talgatovich, Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, for his part, welcomed the suggestions made by the Iranian side stressing “we have mutually shares best practices in the field of banking supervision and the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will boost the regulatory efficiency of the two countries.”

Talgatovich stated that Kazakh banking delegations will travel to Iran in order to describe supervisory and regulatory issues adding “Kazakhstan’s banks are ready to cooperate with Iranian banks and we would welcome the establishment of representative offices of Iranian banks in Kazakhstan.”

Also at the meeting, the officials of Iran’s Central Bank presented reports to the Kazakh delegation informing them about the latest achievements and measures of CBI in line with provision of proper grounds for expansion of banking ties in broker relations, electronic banking as we supervisory areas.
