TEHRAN, Apr. 05 (MNA) – Head of Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Commission has called for an immediate end to recent clashes between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces in the disputed Caucasus region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Talking on the phone with Azeri Minister of Economic Development over ongoing clashes involving the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, Mahmoud Vaezi said Iran is ready to use all its might to remove tensions, establish ceasefire, and settle disputes between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

He noted Iran calls for a rapid end to the Nagorno-Karabakh clashes.

In his telephone conversation with Shahin Mustafayev, Vaezi examined the economic cooperation between the two countries and the implementation of bilateral agreements signed during the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Iran in February.

Urging restraint by both countries and advising that the crisis be resolved through negotiations, Vaezi said Iran favors stability and tranquility in the region and among its neighbors.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is fully ready to use all within its might for cessation of clashes through bilateral and international dialogue,” Vaezi noted.

He warned that continued clashes will lead to destruction and loss to the regional nations and their interests.

Expressing gratitude to Iran's principled position to settle the crisis and to contribute to cessation of war and bloodshed, Mustafayev said Azerbaijan is willing to end clashes soon, in this regard, the President of Azerbaijan Aliyev has unilaterally announced a ceasefire.
