TEHRAN, Apr. 04 (MNA) – Argentinian volleyball coach Raul Lozano arrived in Tehran on Monday to prepare the team for the World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Japan.

Lozano has been named as the new coach of the Iran men’s team in November 2015.

He took over the team from Slobodan Kovac with the aim of reaching the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games.

The 59-year-old will work alongside assistant coach Juan Manuel Cichello, who worked with Iran as assistant to Julio Velasco.

Iran will take part in the World Olympic Qualification Tournament which will be held in Japan from May 28 to June 5.

Kovac led Iran to fourth place in the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World League, winning gold at the Asian Championship and to the Poland 2014 World Championship. Eighth place at the recent FIVB Volleyball World Cup was deemed unacceptable though.
