TEHRAN, Apr. 03 (MNA) – Head of Securities and Exchange Organization of Iran (SEO) has announced the membership of SEO in the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

Mohammad Fatanat, the President Iran’s SEO made the remarks at a meeting with managers and agents of the country's capital market on Saturday.

The official pointed to years of effort for joining IOSCO asserting “possessing a long history of activity in the securities market, Iran has managed to join the IOSCO for the first time.”

“Given that SEO has been accepted by the IOSCO, Iranain securities will be able to submit requests as associate members,” he added.

Fatanat went on to maintain that “Iran’s Securities and Exchange Organization has been invited to submit its dependent membership application at the upcoming meeting of IOSCO to be held in Peru.”

He reiterated that "considerable efforts have been made to this end; consequently, Iran’s membership request will be presented at the first coming meeting of the International Organization of Securities Commissions."
