TEHRAN, Apr. 02 (MNA) – In a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Islamabad, Pakistani Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan described Tehran-Islamabad relations as deeply-rooted in common religious and political ties, saying nothing can disrupt the two countries’ friendship.

The meeting of Pakistani Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Iranian Ambassador to Islamabad Mehdi Honardoust took place in Islamabad on Friday, during which the two sides further stressed the significance of bilateral ties.

“The Pakistan-Iran common stance on various regional issues will lead any foes’ malice against the two countries' brotherly relations to failure,” said the Pakistani minister.

He added the opportunities created by the Iranian president's recent visit to Pakistan should be utilized for further boosting of bilateral ties in all areas.

The Iranian ambassador, for his part, said the two countries share common interests and concerns, stressing Iran’s continued support for Pakistani people and government during difficult times.

He further added that the two countries should focus on deepening economic ties and increase trade volumes as a way to improve friendly relations.

President Rouhani had previously maintained during his meeting with President Mamnoon Hussain that Iran and Pakistan are making efforts to increase their trade volume to $5 billion within the next five years.

Haghdoust also assured Iran and Pakistan’s full cooperation on various issues will ensure security and development in both countries.
