TEHRAN, Mar. 21 (MNA) – Iranian ambassador in Kuala Lumpur said the nuclear deal as well as twin elections gave Iran the upper hand in the previous Iranian year.

Speaking among Iranians at Nowruz celebration in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday afternoon, Iran's Ambassador to Malaysia Marzieh Afkham said Nowruz brings more unanimity and solidarity among the Iranian nation who are inextricably linked to the their homeland; “the previous Iranian year marked a memorable one in which the name of Iran was proudly raised for several times in different parts of the world.”

“Two major events brought pride to the country in the past year one being the implementation of the JCPOA,” noted Afkham asserting “a professional negotiating team skillfully managed to bring the talks into a fruitful conclusion marking a historic event in the history of Iran’s international relations.”

The Iranian ambassador deemed Iran’s twin elections as the second major milestone in the previous year; “massive turnout proved that the Islamic Republic of Iran possesses consistency in a turbulent region as the elections were held in a peaceful atmosphere without tension.”

“In the new year, we need to make effort for the two great movements to yield proper results,” highlighted Afkham calling for endeavors for Iran’s development.

She went on to add that “we need to make an attempt in for the betterment of the country’s economy as well as obtaining stronger foreign relations.”

The official further pointed to the embassy’s plans for the new year saying “we will continue activities in line with strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.”
