SINGAPORE, Mar. 08 (MNA) – Iran’s FM Zarif who is touring south-eastern countries of Asia, met with Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore Yacob on Tuesday.    

Expansion of economic and parliamentarian cooperation between Iran and Singapore was highlighted by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore Halimah Yacob on Tuesday evening.

The two officials met in the Southeast Asian country after Iranian official's earlier meetings with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Singaporean Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and Singaporean Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan.  

The ways of developing bilateral ties was another issue discussed between the two officials.

The Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore also congratulated Mr. Zarif for successful running of the talks with 5+1.

Iranian FM Zarif, who had left Jakarta for Singapore late on Monday, also met with K. Shanmugam who chairs both Ministry for Law and Ministry for Home Affairs of Singapore.

Before travelling to Singapore in second leg of his Asian tour, Zarif also paid an official visit to Indonesia. He is scheduled to visit Brunei, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand afterwards as part of an 11-day tour of Asi-Pacific.
