Iran’s 29-year-old Hashemiyeh Motaghian Moavi displayed an outstanding performance at the women's javelin throw f55/56 final show at Dubai Police Club Stadium collecting the gold medal with a throw of 17.24 meters.
Motaghian Moavi was followed by her Indian opponent Karam Jyoti who stood on the silver podium throwing 11.62 meters as well as the Indonesian contestant Famini who registered 12.66 meters to snatch the bronze medal.
Parviz Golpasand-Hagh earned the bronze medal with a throw of 8 meters and 94 centimeters in the men's shot put F55/56 section.
In the same event, the Vietnamese athlete claimed the title with a throw of 10.18 meters while the Mongolian contestant finished runner-up with a throw of 9.13 meters.
Later in the day, Ahmad Ojaghlou competed in the men's 200m T47 Round 1 Heat 2/2 category and finished first to earn the gold medal, clocking 22.46 seconds.
Sri Lanka’s Pradeep Uggl Dena Pathirannehelage registered 23.66 seconds and was awarded the silver medal while China’s He Haican settled for the bronze, recording 23.79 seconds.
The 2016 IPC Athletics Asia-Oceania Championships kicked off in Dubai, the UAE, on March 6, and will come to an end on March 12.
A total of 29 athletes, 23 sportsmen and six sportswomen, represent the Islamic Republic of Iran at the 2016 IPC Athletics Asia-Oceania Championships.
