Heading a high-ranking delegation, Davutoglu will consult with Iranian senior officials to expand and strengthen the political, cultural and economic relations.
Upon his arrival, Davutoglu was warmly welcomed by Iran's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi at Mehrabad Airport.
Davutoglu, in his two-day visit to Iran, is also scheduled to negotiate and meet with First Vice President Es’hagh Jahangiri, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and President Hassan Rouhani.
During the visit, Iran and Turkey’s foreign ministers will also meet to talk on bilateral ties.
Davutoglu’s visit marks the first official visit by a Turkish premier in the wake of the nuclear Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
During the trip which is within the framework of an official visit to Tehran, four Turkish ministers, including the Minister of Economic Affairs Nihat Zeybekci, and a number of governmental experts and officials as well as Turkey’s major media representatives are also accompanying Davutoglu.
Following Davutoglu's visit to Iran, the upcoming visits by Foreign Minister Zarif and President Rouhani to Turkey are on the schedule.
