The historic agreement was finalized during the visit of First Deputy Head of the Federal Customs of the Russian Federation Vladimir Malinin to Tehran and his meeting with the Governor of Iran Customs Administration (ICA) Masoud Karbasian here on Tuesday.
The full content of the signed document will be released soon but the most provision in the agreement pertains to export of Iran’s agricultural products to Russia.
Accordingly, Russia’s green customs corridor will place discharge of perishable agricultural products as its main priority; moreover, Iran has agreed to provide Russia with relevant information on agricultural products to facilitate the process.
Vladimir Malinin said said that Russia has not so far settled customs issues with any country with such a speed it did with Iran.
On the basis of the new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the two countries will exchange data on other items before arrival to ensure the declared values of goods.
Other provisions of the sealed agreement include translation into Russian of the values for imported and exports goods for traders, formation of a trade window, expansion of Iran-Russia transit in road, sea and rail sectors.
The agreement also lays down expansion of transit between Iran and Russia which includes the facilities to be provided by the green customs corridor.
Karbasian said the agreement will increase bilateral trade between Tehran and Moscow ten times and the value of joint bilateral projects will rise to 30 billion dollars experiencing a ten-fold growth.
