Four movies from Iranian filmmakers will be competing in the 66th Berlin International Film Festival – Berlinale, which will be held from February 11 to 21.
The award is endowed with 50,000 Euros, donated by the GWFF (Gesellschaft zur Wahrnehmung von Film- und Fernsehrecht), a society dedicated to safeguarding film and television rights.
A Dragon Arrives! by Mani Haghighi will be screened in the official competition, Lanturi by Reza Dormishian, Valderrama by Abbas Amini and Daybreak Dreams by documentarian Mehrdad Oskui will compete in various sections of the event.
Valderrama is about an Iranian boy in the southwestern city of Abadan whose conspicuous curly blond hair resembles the famous Colombian former football player Carlos Valderrama, so he is called by the same name.
