Ali Akbar Shabanpour, Managing Director of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), stated that the volume of gas production in South Pars field will climb to 750 million cubic meters once the new phases are implemented; “accordingly, Phases 12, 15 and 16 have been put into operation over the past year.”
The official pointed out the production of more than 30 million cubic meters of gas from Phases 17 and 18 asserting “by the next Iranian calendar year (beginning March 21, 2016), these two phases will start production at full capacity.”
“The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has prioritized the implementation of different phases in order to follow targeted and balanced development of South Pars joint field,” underlined Shabanpour adding that “in line with the completion of Phases 17 and 18, the installment and early production of gas from Phases 19, 20 and 21 has also been put on the agenda as second-top priority.”
He deemed the development of Phases 13, 14, 22, 23 and 24 as other prime concerns at South Pars stressing “except for Phase 12, the construction of other phases is between 70 to 80 per cent through and the development of South Pars is estimated to be fully accomplished within the next two years.”
POGC managing director emphasized that the total gas production at South Pars will rise to 750 million cubic meters per day; “therefore, Iran will be able to go past Qatar in extracting gas from the joint field.”
NIOC had recently reported that in time with the implementation of new phases over the first ten months of the current Iranian calendar year, more than 95 million cubic meters of rich gas has been produced at the joint field.
