TEHRAN, May 24 (MNA) -- Iran has appointed Hamid Reza Nikkar as its new ambassador to Ireland, it was announced here on Monday.

The appointment was made upon the proposal of Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi and the approval of President Mohammad Khatami.

   

According to the Foreign Ministry's Press and Information Department, Nikkar had earlier served as Iran's ambassador to Armenia, deputy foreign minister, and mayor of Isfahan.
