QOM, Jan. 28 (MNA) – Senior adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has told a meeting Takfirism and extremism will not last long and will belong to history in the near future.

Ali Akbar Velayati who was addressing an international Seminar on Threat of Takfirist Movements in the Contemporary World in Qom on Thursday believed that colonialism of the west and occupationism by imperial powers in the Islamic lands generated internal force in those lands which backfired, forcing colonial powers to leave; “in Nigeria, for example, where for one hundred years, Islam has been ruling the country. Now, Boko Haram has infested the country,” he added.

Member of the Strategic Council of International Congress to Fight Takfirism and Extremism, a body established to address the threats of extremism and terrorism, believed the Islamic Awakening created a wave in the modern times, i.e., after the Islamic Revolution of 1979; “since then, the international imperialism embarked on a campaign when it gave birth to illegitimate children which were Islamic outside but un-Islamic inherently to inflict Muslims in an internecine conflict which helped imperialism to embrace its long-awaited objectives,” Velayati told the meeting. “Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan was a true factor of desecration of the religion. For a while, they had Afghanistan as their den of abominable acts of shamelessness; once Benazir Bhutto acknowledged in an interview with BBC that this had not only Pakistan which helped form Al-Qaeda, but that Saudi Arabia, the US, and UK played a role.”

Member of Expediency Council and the head of Council’s Strategic Research Center added that Arab-Israeli wars deployed Syria as the major Arab country in the frontlines of war against Zionism and Imperialism; they attacked Syria to defeat the resistance and provide security of Israeli regime; “Saddam Hussein had cordial relations with Taliban and Al-Qaeda just before US invaded his country; Ezzat Ibrahim was Saddam’s right hand aid and only second to him in command line, who is believed to be a founding  father of ISIL; all these petty names contributed to Takfirist extremism in the Islamic lands and which had support of western countries,” Velayati emphasized, believing that the sole objective had been to weaken and defeat resistance movement in the region.

Velayati emphasized that all should think for revival of Islamic Awakening; “after the demise of the Takfirist and extremist movements, which definitely will be a matter of few years, time will demonstrate that which other elements of darkness the west would devise to stop Islamic Awakening,” he told the meeting.
