TEHRAN, Jan. 26 (MNA) – President Hassan Rouhani who is visiting Italy during his European tour, has met with Pope Francis in Vatican on Tuesday.

Rouhani and Francis Pope emphasized that Heavenly religions were the promoters of peace and avoidance of violence and extremism, and called all countries to work in a collective attempt to establish peace.

Rouhani’s visit to the pontiff was organized for Tuesday evening in Vatican and Pope Francis welcomed Iran’s role as a ballast for peace in the Middle East. Both officials also believed that international organizations and countries should join a global campaign to relieve the sufferings of the human being through ending conflict and wars.

The meeting also addressed Iran’s nuclear deal with west and its recent implementation, Middle East developments, and the political solutions to the crisis underway in the region.

President Rouhani also visited Vatican Prime Minister Archbishop Pietro Parolin and talked bilateral relations and other regional and international issues of interest.
