TEHRAN, Jan. 23 (MNA) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani has left Tehran for Baghdad this morning to participate in the 11th PUIC Conference held from Jan. 20-25, 2016.

Ali Larijani is due in Baghdad on Saturday for a one-day visit in order to attend the 11th session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC). He will leave Baghdad for Tehran later this evening. 

The conference started on January 20 and will continue until 25, and will address the problems of Islamic countries.

The PUIC was established in Iran on 17 June 1999, with its head office situated in Tehran.

The Union aims to introduce the precepts of Islam, enhancing the implementation of the Islamic principle of consultation (Shoora) in all OIC Member States, provide a framework for comprehensive cooperation, and promoting meeting and dialogue among parliaments of OIC members.

The 10th session of the PUIC was held in the Turkish city of Istanbul in January 2015 with representatives from more than 50 countries in attendance.
