DAMASCUS, Jan. 19 (MNA) – Units of the Syrian Army and the Popular Defense recaptured 17 villages and caused more than 30 casualties to terrorist groups in the provinces of Latakia, Idlib, Daraa and Homs, according to military reports.

In the northern province of Latakia total control was achieved in the villages of Al-Kandasiya and Al-Sukaiya, Kizbar and Sindiyan, besides capturing important positions in nearby mountainous areas.

The information stated that the terrorists' casualties exceeded half dozen, and they escaped towards Rabia'a, near the border with Turkey, and one of the few areas in Latakia that still have terrorists.

The towns of Raas Ghazal and Raas Kbir, in regions of the province, located about 250 kilometers northwest of Damascus, were also retaken.

In Idlib, a region also to the north of the capital, another 23 mercenaries from Turkestan, Turkey, Chechnya, Tunisia, Iraq and Saudi Arabia were killed, according to confirmed data.

These groups of the so-called Al-Fateh Army and the Al-Nusra Front, were expelled from places like Seyneh, Al-Arbain, while the leader Abdullah al-Qader was killed, as per sources of the Syrian Army.

Meanwhile, in Homs, a province in the north center of the country, Army units destroyed positions and shelters of the ISIL in Mount Hel and the Maqalaa area, located west of the city of Palmyra, with casualties still unclear.

Data from the authorities noted that vehicles of that group were destroyed in Tulul Soud and Qariatien, as well as in the towns of Kafarlaha,Tal Thahab, Rastan, Talbiseh and Kisin.

The information added new operations in the region of Daraa, about 100 kilometers to the south of Damascus, during which six terrorists were killed, and two vehicles were destroyed in areas of Al-Balad and Naimeh.
