Russian wrestling authorities have refused to attend Iran’s international events leading to official reaction of President of National Wrestling Federation Rasoul Khadem and his colleagues.
Following the change of leadership in the World Wrestling Federation as well as the innovative activities carried out by Iran in the field, Russia felt its permanent and managerial position as shaky putting the policy of sabotage on the agenda.
Consequently, the Iranian Wrestling Federation has officially announced its position as Alireza Rezaei, the federation’s spokesman, announced that Iran did not take part in Padobeni competitions and will not attend the upcoming Yarygin International Tournaments.
He emphasized that relations with other countries are based on cooperation and mutual respect; “since Russians refused to take part in Iran’s international wrestling events, we have decided to resign from their tournaments in turn.”
“Iranian wrestlers will still attend the competitions in countries like Belarus, Hungary and Ukraine due to their satisfactory interaction with Iran by being present in the country’s tournaments,” he underlined.
Rezaei further noted “in the same line, Iran also plans to limit its presence in Turkey’s international events as well.”
Russia’s absence in Tehran’s Takhti Cup led the Iranian Wrestling Federation to adopt a tougher stance against its old rival.
