TEHRAN, May 17 (MNA) - Over one million tons of the surplus wheat crop has been purchased from the domestic farmers; the figure indicates a growth of over 19 percent compared to the same period in the preceding year, says a news report.

 

According to the report, the provinces of Fars, Khuzestan and Ilam with about 185,000 tons, 70,000 tons and 59,000 tons are respectively accounted for the highest amount of the purchases, whereas, the smallest volumes belong to the provinces of Sistan va Baluchestan, Jiroft, Kohkiluyeh va Boyer Ahmad and Hormuzgan.

 

The purchase of the wheat crop from the provinces of Fars, Khuzestan and Ilam has increased by 20.13 percent, 22.81 percent, 79.8 percent respectively compared to last year, the report also stated.

 

Also, this year’s purchases of the commodity from the provinces of Sistan va Baluchestan, Hormuzgan,  Kohkiluyeh va Boyer Ahmad and Kerman have declined by 20.33 percent, 27 percent, 67.70 percent and 53.76 percent respectively compared to the same period in the year before, the report further explained.
