TEHRAN, Jan. 03 (MNA) – International snowboarding competitions in the Giant Slalom discipline is underway in Iran’s Dizin Ski resort.

According to the calendar of International Ski Federation (FIS), Giant Slalom Snowboarding Competition has launched today January 3rd in Tehran’s Dizin International Ski Resort and will wrap up tomorrow January 4th.

Guney Memet of turkey represents the FIS as the technical delegate of the event.

Dizin will also host the Alpine Skiing tournament in Giant Slalom discipline on January 5-6, 2016.

Established in 1969, Dizin is one of the largest Iranian ski resorts in the Alborz mountain range, near Tehran and also the city of Karaj.

The ski season in Dizin lasts longer than in European ski resorts, from December to May, due to the resort’s high altitude where the highest ski lift reaches 3,600 m (11,800 ft), making it one of the 40 highest ski resorts in the world.
