The inspectors of WFTGA held a meeting with Iran Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (IFTGA) as well as the officials of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicraft Organization(ICHTO) on Sunday during which Iran’s hosting of WFTGA Convention 2017 was confirmed.
WFTGA Vice President Ruby Roy and the WFTGA’s Head of Training Ivana Curuvija have travelled to Iran to screen the country’s facilities for the convention.
During the meeting Ruby Roy said “However Iran, as a host, faces some challenges including the visa issuance for foreign tourists, the infrastructures of the hotels which are not favorable and lack of parking in museums and tourist sites for the buses but the situation can still be easily improved.”
“Three hotels are selected in Tehran as the finalists which have been introduced to IFTGA,” she said.
“From now on, the foreign tourist guides can visit Iran’s museums and sites for free while the same facility will be provided for the Iranian guides in the world”, she added.
Moreover, during the meeting, IFTGA member Mohsen Haji Saeed also presented a report on Iran’s programs on the convention.
He said that Singapore and Denmark were Iran’s contenders for the convention as well.
The Deputy Director for Tourism Affairs at Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicraft Organization Morteza Rahmani Movahhed also delivered a speech.
He said “We are aware of the problems and tend to solve them with the talent of Iran’s young generation”
“Iran plans to boost its tourism in 2016; several institutes and centers have named 2016 as the year of Iran”, he added.
