TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (MNA) – A high-ranking Omani military delegation met with Iranian Navy Commander Habibollah Sayyari on Sun. to discuss various ways to expand maritime cooperation between the two countries.

A high-ranking Omani military delegation who arrived in Iran on Saturday to attend the 12th Iran-Oman joint military friendship committee meeting, met with Commander of Iran's Navy Habibbollah Sayyari today.

The meeting was held with an aim to promote the level of maritime interactions between Iran and Oman given the importance of developing bilateral ties both geopolitics-wise and in line with improving military-defensive, political, economic and cultural relations.   

The delegation compriseing 12 Omani senior officials is headed by Army Commander Brigadier General Hamd bin Rashid bin Saeed al-Balushi on this four-day visit to Iran.

During the military friendship committee meeting held Saturday, the two sides discussed a number of topics that would contribute to promoting the level of strategic relations and strengthening the existing cooperation in the military field.

The two sides also agreed to hold a joint drill in the Sea of Oman on Dec. 23 once the meeting is concluded.
