Lithium-ion batteries are the latest generation of batteries and the world trend toward their application is increasingly changing. The li-ion batteries enjoy a wide range of superior characteristics compared with other traditional options including longer life span, being cost-effective, friendlier to the environment due to the absence of pollutants like acid and lead, lesser weight, long-distance monitoring capability, user safety, as well as fast-charging capability.
Therefore, the knowledge-based firm Farpam attempted to indigenize and produce this longer-lasting and cost-effective power storage technology to replace traditional lead-acid batteries in telecom tower companies. These batteries are used to store and supply electricity to telecom towers when grid power fails, and are more reliable in terms of providing uninterrupted power supplies.
The Iranian li-ion batteries have a high-energy density and are lightweight, with a 50 percent reduction in size and weight. This product can also withstand temperatures from minus 20 degrees up to 65 degrees Celsius. It can also be remotely controlled due to having a BMC board. The 3 to 4 times increase in the li-ion batteries life span has brought about an added value of 6 to 7 percent.
The lithium-ion batteries have applications in telecommunications and cell phone industries, military industries or any other industry that uses emergency power.
