TEHRAN, Dec. 09 (MNA) – On the first day of 2015 WTF World Cup Taekwondo Team Championships in Mexico, Iran’s national team of men taekwondokas obtained a triumph and conceded a defeat.

A total of eight top teams of the world are participating in the 2015 WTF World Cup Taekwondo Team Championships and Iran has been put in Group A of the event along with Azerbaijan, Belgium and Uzbekistan.

In the first encounter against Uzbekistan the head coach Bijan Moghanloo sent Armin Hadipour, Mohammad Kazemi, Abolfazl Yaqoubi, Masoud Hajizavareh, Saeed Rajabi and Omid Amidi on stage where the meeting ended with the spectacular result of 25-26 in favor of Uzbeks.

The Iranian squad managed to down Belgium in the second match with the superior result of 40-29 and will fight against Azerbaijan on Wednesday evening in their final qualifier as an effort to advance to the semi-finals of the event.

The 2015 WTF World Cup Taekwondo Team Championships started in Mexico on December 8, and concludes on December 9 and the competitions will be staged at the Sala de Armas Gymnasium in Mexico City.

The Iranian outfit is under the tutelage of Bijan Moghanloo as head coach, while Mehdi Bibak and Mehrdad Yousefi coach the Iranian taekwondo practitioners.

Iranian taekwondo fighters collected three medals, among them one gold, at the 2015 World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) Grand Prix Final in Mexico.
