TEHRAN, Nov. 25 (MNA) – Iran has strongly denounced the Tuesday terrorist attack in the North African nation's capital which targeted a bus carrying Tunisian presidential guards.

“This terrorist attack has targeted the stability, security and the achievements of the Tunisian people’s revolution,” Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari said on Wednesday.

The official offered Iran’s condolences to Tunisian nation and government and the victims’ families, expressing hope that the North African nation would preserve the ideals of its revolution by maintaining its unity and solidarity.

A bomb blast on Tuesday targeting a bus carrying Tunisian presidential guards in the heart of Tunis on a crowded boulevard left at least 12 people dead and more than a dozen others wounded.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack against the presidential guards although ISIL terrorist group claimed two major attacks earlier this year in the country.

Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi has declared a state of emergency following the explosion.
