TEHRAN, Nov. 21 (MNA) – Iranian family drama I Am Diego Maradona, directed by Bahram Tavakoli, will be screened at 53rd Edition of Gijón International Film Festival.

The flick is to go on screen in the Main Competition section of the festival which is held on November 21-28 in Gijón, a city in northwest of Spain.

I Am Diego Maradona is a gripping domestic drama revolving around two married sisters who have to face unsuccessful marriage involving all family members "for best or for worse".

After a rock is thrown through a window, two families become intertwined in a dispute after an incident following an unsuccessful marriage. The couple in question try to hash out what actually went wrong, as the surrounding family members point fingers at one another. Tension builds as all of their other problems seem to bubble to the surface at the same time.

The movie was nominated for the 11th Crystal Simorgh of 33rd Fajr International Film Festival and the Special Jury of the Festival granted the award for its Best Sound, Best Supporting Role Actor and Best Director.

Gijón International Film Festival aims to present the newest trends of young cinema worldwide. Films made by or for young people but, above all, films that reflect creativity, independence and innovation.
