MOSCOW, Nov. 18 (MNA) – The director of the Federal Security Service of Russia, Alexander Bortnikov, reported to President Vladimir Putin, that a terrorist attack caused the catastrophe of the A321 in the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt.

During a special meeting of security agencies, Bortnikov said that the explosion of a bomb caused the crash of the civilian airplane on October 31st, in which 217 passengers and seven crew members died.

In the report to President Putin, the official indicated that an explosive device exploded in flight.

Such conclusions were validated by the analysis of the fuselage and the substances on the found objects, said Bortnikov during the session of the Security Council chaired by Putin.

The 9268 flight of the Russian private airline Kogalymavia disappeared from the Egyptian radars 23 minutes after takeoff from the sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh, bound for St. Petersburg.

The President assured they will find the terrorists anywhere in the world, and that Russia will act in line with the Article 51 of the UN Charter, which reaffirms the right of countries to defend themselves.

Putin warned all those trying to cover the criminals that they must know that the consequences will rest on their shoulders.

The Russian president instructed on Tuesday the security corps to concentrate on the work and also requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address other partner countries in an attempt to help the search for those responsible for the attack.

Putin recalled other terrorist acts faced by his country, like the series of events in Volgograd in late 2013, and considered that nothing and nobody will stop them from finding and punishing the criminals.

The catastrophe in Sinai on October 31st is classified as the greatest disaster in the history of the Russia civil aviation, and the largest number of victims caused by a terrorist act against Russian citizens, claimed Putin.

The Federal Security Service announced on Tuesday a reward of 50 million dollars for obtaining information on those involved in the explosion of the A321.

In the last minute, the channel Rossiya 24 reported the arrest of two officials from the Egyptian Sharm El Sheikh airport, presumably related to the incident of the Russian aircraft.
