Since Bangkok 2015 World Archery Asia Para Championships offer tickets to Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, the points earned by the athletes will be calculated for both Asian Champions ship and Paralympic quotas.
Zahra Nemati who had recently become the first female Paralympian to compete at the Olympic Games, ranked first in women’s singles at the Asian Championship as well as the Rio 2016 Qualification.
Somayyeh Abbaspour, the other Iranian para archer stood second in Asian championship and won the first title in the preliminary qualification.
Majid Kakush also came second in Compound W1 class ranking first in the qualification round.
However, the country’s representative in the men’s individual Compound Shahab Reihani ranked 8th in Asia as well as in Rio qualifications.
The rest of the qualification competitions will be held on Saturday followed by the battles in the Asian Championship.
Attended by 15 countries, the Asian Para Archery Championships Bangkok, (THA) – Rio 2016 Qualification, are underway in Bangkok, Thailand and will last till November 18.
