DAMASCUS, Nov. 11 (MNA) – The Syrian army managed to break the siege set by terrorist units of the ISIL on the Kweres air base, in the province of Aleppo, located 430 kilometers northeast of this capital city.

Military spokespeople told local media that the army advanced from the town of Sheikh Ahmad and managed to break the siege set by armed extremist groups and make contact with the soldiers defending the air base.

The same sources also confirmed that during the offensive, an unknown amount of ISIL members was killed.

More than a hundred soldiers and officers of the air base in Kweres kept on defending this site for almost two years and were subjected to constant attacks by the terrorist groups, including the use of car bombs, in an attempt to enter the air base.

During the period, the military supplies and staples were airdropped by the Government's planes and helicopters, given the impossibility of breaking the siege set by the terrorists.
