TEHRAN, Nov. 08 (MNA) – Iran’s national beach soccer team could achieve a 5-3 penalty shootout victory over Egypt to ranks 3rd at the 2015 Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup, UAE.

Iranian beach soccer players held a match against Egyptian rival in 2015 Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup hosted by Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Saturday afternoon.

Held in three 12-minute periods, the game went into penalties after the two sides were locked a 2-2 at the end of overtime where Iran pulled off a victory over Egypt clinching the third place of the tournament.

Ali Naderi, Mehran Morshedzadeh and Amir Hossein Akbari were Iran’s goal scorers in penalties while Egypt missed the third spot kick to mark Iran as the winner 5-4.

The 2015 Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup was the fifth edition of the tournament, Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup which took place at Jumeirah Beach in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from 3 to 7 November 2015 with participation of eight teams.

Born in Copacabana, Brazil, beach football is played all across the world, even countries with barely a coastline in insight.
