Nasser Charkhsaz told reporters on Saturday that an evaluation team of the IRCS was sent to Afghanistan for a preliminary study of the situation on the ground after a 7.5 Richter quake hit parts of the country. “The evaluation team recommended sending immediate humanitarian aid to the country; the first such package will be dispatched to Afghanistan on Sunday, and will be delivered to Afghan authorities in border region in southeast,” he said.
“The package includes 400 tents, 400 carpets and mats, and 1000 blankets; aid collected from individual donners will also be organized to receive by a meeting of national societies held on Sunday in Afghanistan,” Charkhsaz told reporters.
