TEHRAN, Oct.28 (MNA) – Iran’s FM spokeswoman has said foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will attend Vienna’s Syrian talks on next Friday.

Marzieh Afkham was quoted by foreign ministry’s media relations office saying that in response to an invitation for the Islamic Republic of Iran to the session, Zarif would lead a high ranking political mission to Vienna, the meeting venue.

“Russian and EU delegations will sit together along with Iranian delegation to discuss common matters of interests in the sidelines of the main event; we predict also a coordination meeting between Iranian and US delegations on nuclear agreement implementation,” Afkham told reporters.

Iran’s state news agency IRNA report said Geneva 1 and 2 had systematically failed to hit an outcome for Syrian crisis earlier this year. Analysts believe that any decisions excluding Iran as an important player in Syria would fail to find any concrete outcomes to the crisis. A quadrilateral meeting with the US, Turkey, Russia, and Saudi Arabia produced little to help the situation in Syria.

Western sources quoted US officials announcing that Iran would be invited to event to be held in Vienna on Friday to address Syrian crisis.
