TEHRAN, Oct. 28 (MNA) – Paykan Tehran volleyball team had a sounding 3-0 win over Egypt’s Al-Ahly in their first encounter at FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship, Brazil.

Iran’s Paykan Tehran volleyball team displayed all of their might to shut down Egypt’s Al-Ahly Sporting Club at the first round of Brazil’s Volleyball Club World Championship on Tuesday evening. With their demolishing serves and never-ending power, The Iranian side came victorious by seizing a win over Al-Ahly 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-15).

Paykan’s Farhad Ghaemi was uplifted as the most prolific scorer on his side, with 14 points; however, Paykan also seized a fine performance from Amir Ghafour, who nailed 12 kills.

The solid display allowed Paykan Tehran to move closer to a semifinal spot in Betim and they will play against Argentina’s UPCN on Thursday evening.

The 2015 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship will take place in Betim in Brazil from October 27-31, with some of the world’s best teams battling it out for the gold medal.

The 11th edition of the Men’s Club World Championship sees six of the world’s top clubs who have travelled to one of volleyball’s heartlands.
