NEW YORK, Oct. 27 (MNA) – UN’s Ban Ki-moon has condemned Saudi-led coalition attack on a UNICEF-affiliated hospital in Yemen

The Secretary-General condemned the airstrikes by the Saudi-led Coalition that hit the Hayadeen Medical Hospital, run by Médecins Sans Frontières with support from UNICEF and the World Health Organization in Sa’dah governorate. The strikes reportedly resulted in injuries to several people and the complete destruction of the facility.

Ban Ki-moon noted that hospitals and medical personnel are explicitly protected under international humanitarian law. He further reminded Saudis and their coalition the utmost necessity to respect obligations under international human rights law and international humanitarian law to prevent attacks against civilians and civilian objects.

The UN Secretary-General calls for a prompt, effective and impartial investigation in order to ensure accountability. He has called on all parties to the conflict in Yemen to immediately cease all operations, including airstrikes.

Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies supported by the United States launched an unsanctioned aggression against Yemen in a clear violation of international laws and the sovereignty of another country which is against UN mandates.
