Leading an economic-trade delegation, Finland's Under-Secretary of State for External Economic Relations Matti Anttonen has arrived in Iran on October 25 for a four-day visit and has so far met and talked with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed several issues including bilateral relations, implementation of JCPOA, regional issues as well as economic cooperation between the two countries for the new era after the removal of sanctions.
Finnish official, for his part, congratulated Iran on the nuclear deal and the approval of JCPOA in the country; “Finland is determined to resume and develop economic cooperation especially in the fields of technology transfer and investment in Iran,” he asserted.
“Accordingly, a delegation of representatives of important Finish companies headed by Finland’s Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Lenita Toivakka will travel to Iran in December to mark Finland’s largest delegation that has ever visited another country,” he added.
Matti Anttonen also noted that a seminar will soon be held in the capital city of Helsinki, Finland to introduce Iran’s trade and investment opportunities and will be attended by Iranian officials as well as a considerable number of Finnish companies’ representatives.
He referred to the creation of new space for cooperation with Iran after the nuclear agreement and expressed his country’s readiness to cooperate with Iranian partners in the fields of agriculture, forest conservation, environment, mining, communication industries as well as water and wastewater management.
The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi supported the continuation of traditional cooperation and exchange of delegations in all fields stressing the need for investment and technology transfer as critical components in the new relations between the two countries.
He further described Iran’s views and positions on regional issues and the ways to resolve the crisis in Yemen and Syria as well as helping to improve security conditions in Afghanistan.
The official further deemed the current situation in Yemen as serious and called for urgent attention to the humanitarian needs of the Yemeni people.
