TEHRAN, Oct. 25 (MNA) – Seven documentary films, holding a critical approach toward America’s contemporary society, will be screened in Iran’s 9th Cinéma Vérité International Film Festival.

The documentary film festival has formed a section entitled ‘Reality or Dream’ which will screen films on criticizing the contemporary American society.

The works include (T)error (Lyric Cabral and David Felix, 2015), Of Men and War (French: Des hommes et de la guerre, Laurent Bécue-Renard, 2014), Killing Time(Lydie Wisshaupt -Claudel, 2015),  (Jack Ricobono, 2015), Cartel Land (Matthew Heineman, 2015) and The Case of the Three Sided Dream(Adam Kahan, 2014).

Killing Time and Of Men and War are about American soldiers who have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan and are suffering with mental problems due to killing innocent Muslims.

Killing Time received the Buyens-Chagoll Award at Visions du RéelNyon (Switzerland) and Of Men and War was screened in the Cannes last year.  

Cartel Land and The Seventh Fire are about the compulsory addiction of American Indians and the smuggling system of US-Mexico.  

Cartel Land won awards at Sundance Film Festival and also attended Melbourne and Tribeca film festivals.

Iran’s 9th Cinéma Vérité is slated for 13-19 Dec. 2015 in Tehran’s Palestine and Sepideh cinemas.

Organized by Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC), the annual festival tries to express the relationship between reality and truth though documentary films.
