TEHRAN, Oct. 20 (MNA) – Iranian foreign minister believes that Saudi Arabia and Saudi Hajj officials did not react responsibly and seriously not taking appropriate measures to save the lives of pilgrims.

On the sidelines of the funeral ceremony of the late senior Iranian Diplomat Ahmad Fahima who died in Mina disaster, Mohammad Javad Zarif noted: “we share condolences with all the bereaved families of Mina victims and hope for the identification of all missing people including our colleague Ghazafar Roknabadi who will hopefully return safely to their families.”

“Unfortunately, a large number of Muslims from various Islamic countries lost their lives in the accident; however, the foreign ministry has diligently worked to returned pilgrims as well as to transfer the bodies of the killed people to the country,” he stressed.

Iran’s Zarif further asserted that, “at the moment we are making consultations with other Islamic countries to investigate the facts as well as to prevent repetition of such tragic events.”
