TEHRAN, Oct. 08 (MNA) - Iran’s deputy FM for Arab-African affairs said that Iran supports the will of the Yemeni nation against foreign interventions.

The Iranian official made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation from Yemen’s Supreme Revolutionary Council in Tehran.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that the Yemen crisis has no military solution and respecting the votes and rights of all the Yemeni sides by its neighboring countries is the only way to resolve it.

“Attacks on residential areas, schools, and hospitals are obvious violation of humanitarian laws and rules”, he said and urged the United Nations to take the necessary steps to safeguard civilian lives, especially women and children.

For his part, Naif al-Qanis, the deputy head of the Yemeni council that entered Tehran on Monday, said that the council stands for defending Yemen's independence.

He added that the world should realize that the ongoing crisis in Yemen is not about the conflict between a group and a foreign power, but all Yemeni parties are currently fighting for sovereignty and defending Yemen against meddling by foreign countries.
