On the occasion of the Eid al-Adha also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, and Eid al-Ghadeer, the day when the prophet of Islam appointed Imam Ali - the first Shia Imam - as his successor and the Muslims' next leader, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei agreed to pardon or commute prison terms of 630 eligible inmates convicted by public and Revolutionary courts, the State Discretionary Punishment Organization and the Judicial Organization of the Armed Forces.
The pardon was made at the request of the country's Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadegh Amoli Larijani and was accepted by Iran’s Leader on the occasion of two important feats of Muslims.
