TEHRAN, Sep. 30 (MNA) – Head of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture has announced the proposal for formation of Iran-Oman joint venture companies.

At a joint meeting with Oman’s economic delegation, Mohsen Jalalpour stated that Iran-Oman’s political cooperation has been more than economic cooperation and asserted that, “the opportunity to develop business and economic ties has not been available over the past few years due to sanctions.”

Emphasizing on the need for development of ties between the two countries, Jalalpour added that, “Iran tends to turn the trade between the two countries into long-term economic cooperation.”

Higligting Iran's position as an island of stability in a region with a 400-million-people market, and the fact that rise of insecurity in region would lead to surge in tourism entrance to the country, the official noted that, “Iran’s position in the region has provided great opportunities for expansion of economic cooperation between the two countires.”

“If we start joint economic activities, we will be able to obtain a good market in the region," stated Jalalpour reiterating that, “with regard to human resources and engineering companies, Iran is a self-sufficient country and can have a good partnership with Omanis who have good access to financial resources.”

“We call for the formation of joint venture companies between Iranian and Omani sides in order to carry out activities in the region,” he added.

Stating that hundreds of billions of dollars must be invested in infrastructure, mining and industrial areas over the next 10 years, he said that, “joint Iranian-Omani companies will be able to take advantage of this opportunity as well.”

The official also urged the Omani side to invest in Iran’s tourism industry because Iran will welcome more tourists in the next 10 years due to the insecurity of the other regional countries.
