ANKARA, Sep. 19 (MNA) – Despite the closure done by authorities, thousands of migrants continue in the Turkish province of Edirne, near Greece and Bulgaria demanding to be allowed to cross.

The migrants have been gathering at the border since the beginning of the week, hoping they will be allowed to cross into Greece on foot instead of by the sea where many have lost their lives.

They have pledged to start a hunger strike and continue it until their demands are met.

Many plan to reach Greece and from there to Macedonia, Serbia and Hungary until they get to Austria or Germany.

According to Hurriyet, the migrants say that they have no intention of remaining in Turkey because their objective is to reach European Union member states.
