DHAKA, Sep. 16 (MNA) – Emphasizing the development of bilateral relations between Iran and Bangladesh, Iran’s Foreign Minister said that Iran’s energy sector can be a reliable source for Bangladesh.

At the meeting with Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina today morning, Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed Iran’s readiness to expand bilateral cooperation with Bangladesh asserting that, “the barriers to trade and cooperation between the two countries need to be resolved.”

Appreciating Bangladesh’s position in support of peaceful nuclear activity, Zarif underlined the expansion of ties between Tehran and Dhaka.

Zarif also reiterated that Iran can be a reliable source of energy for Bangladesh.

Pointing to the friendly and brotherly relations between Shia and Sunni Muslims in Bangladesh, Iranian FM said that, “this unity should become the role model of other countries; of course, the cause of division in Iraq, Yemen, and Syria is a political matter and not sectarianism.”

Sheikh Hasina also urged the expansion of ties between the two countries especially in cultural and economic areas and added that, “there exists a good religious harmony in Bangladesh.”

She also stressed the development of commercial ties between the two country's delegations.
