Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and senior negotiators Abbas Araghchi and Majid Takht-Ravanchi are attending the 10th session of the Parliament special committee to review the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) that commenced on Sunday.

During the meeting, members of the special committee will continue to review the process of nuclear negotiations during the tenure of the previous government and to study the evaluation of former negotiating team.

Meanwhile, Supreme National Security Council Secretary General Shamkhani and former head of the Iranian nuclear negotiations team Saeed Jalili, former senior negotiator Ali Bagheri and former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Freydoun Abbasi attended the meeting this morning and presented a report on the review of the JCPOA to the lawmakers.

The committee is scheduled to visit Arak heavy water facilities on Monday.

On July 21, 136 Iranian lawmakers voted in favor of a proposal to form a 15-member committee to review the text of the nuclear agreement, dubbed as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). The decision to form the committee was made after Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif attended the Parliament’s session that day to hand over a copy of the JCPOA and brief the legislators on the landmark agreement.
