HAMEDAN, Sep. 13 (MNA) – Director General of Hamedan Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization has said that in time with the Autumn Festival in Hamedan, the “Walnut Harvest” festival will be held in Toyserkan.

Referring to the efforts to add the walnut tree shaking custom to the Iran's National Register List, Reihan Soroush Moghadam said that, “this year’s Walnut Harvest Festival will be attended by gardeners, manufacturers, as well as people from target tourism villages.”

“The festival consists of various ceremonies which include performing local music, peeling walnuts, and selling them to guests and costumers,” added Moghadam deeming the festival as vital in recognition of walnut and its derivatives, as well as in introducing Toyserkan’s tourist attractions to people.

Pointing to the Walnut Harvest Festival as one of Toyserkan’s long-lasting customs, he underlined that, “the festival seeks to preserve traditions and culture of Toyserkan.”

Calling Toyserkan an area full of potentials for natural and historical tourism, Moghadam asserted that, “providing a friendly and pleasant atmosphere to introduce the natural potentials of the city to the rest of the world, as well as discussing the prosperity of economy and tourism industry in this region are among the main objectives of this festival.”

He added that the festival will be held on October 1-10.
