TEHRAN, Sep. 06 (MNA) – Three MoUs on cooperation in customs, tax and investment were signed on Sunday between Iran economy minister and Iraqi finance minister.

Iran’s Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs Ali Tayyeb-Nia said the signed agreements with Iraqi Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari included 'Double Taxation Avoidance,' 'Customs Cooperation' and 'Encouragement and Protection of Foreign Investment.'

The Iranian minister maintained that Iran-Iraq trade currently stands at $12 billion if transit and tourism are also taken into account, adding, “the figure could easily be increased to $20 billion now that these agreements have been signed, and we will reach this target in the near future.”

Zebari, for his part, expressed satisfaction over his visit to Tehran and meeting his Iranian counterpart, saying the two sides discussed a whole lot of economic issues, namely investment and facilitation of trade deals as well as mutual cooperation to upgrade bilateral economic ties.
